Le Merde and Bwana Spoons DIY Figures

Super7 (Booth #4729) is bringing a bunch of exclusive vinyl down to SDCC this year. There will be things that glitter and things that glow. (More on that later.) Call me a minimalist, but what I’m most excited about is the 3-pack of 4.5-inch blanks. If the concept of abstract, shapeless DIY toys is growing old to you, check out DIY versions of signature characters instead. Super7 made up blanks of Le Merde’s Hollis, Bwana Spoons‘ Steven the Bat and Josh Herbolsheimer’s Rose Vampire. In addition to the blank Hollis, Super7 will have painted pieces. If you dig the fig, keep this in the back of your head: there may be some further exciting versions on the horizon. Bwana’s Steven has been retooled for the SDCC release. With several colorways of the original figure, it’ll be interesting to see what people do with the blanks (sans drumsticks). Finally, Josh introduces Rose Vampire, a hybrid of two entities that draw blood. The figure is cleverly designed to be both cute and thorny. Note to customizers: each figure is made of hollow, Japanese vinyl with a pop-off head. The figures will be sold as a blank set of 3 for about $50. With the artists in attendance for the convention, you can get them all signed or customized for what you’d normally pay for a single production piece. Nice.

As many of you know, we’ve worked with LASH (LAstdyingwiSH) in the past, and believe he is an incredibly talented artist. Pictured is LASH’s soon to be released official run of Itokin Park’s Lucha Bear.

We are not selling these, just to clarify, but we wanted to make a mention, as we’re in love with LASH’s work. These will be available May 23rd via LASH’s blog. Only 10 exist, so don’t sleep on this one.

UPDATE: Available to anyone who wants one on May 7th 12:00am EST (tonight, as of this update). Just drop in and let us know you want one.

So here’s the deal. On Wednesday May 6th, at a random time, we’re going to make these pieces available, via this post. It’ll be pretty simple. Comments are disabled at the moment, but once the pieces are available, you’ll be able to post.

To get a piece, all you have to do is make a comment stating that you want one. The catch is that when you enter your email, it has to match the email we have on file.

It’ll be first come first serve, and if we get more requests than we have pieces available, we’ll start a waitlist. Everyone who gets in on time will get an email, with further instructions.

We’ll send an email out to everyone once it’s time, and make a Twitter update too, so make sure you’re following us. In the meantime, enjoy the above pic from Paul Kaiju. Pretty cool, no?

Venus Flytrap is an official PopSoda release — and bbulb exclusive — by the renowned customizer, Paul Kaiju. These beauties will be available in a week or so for $84.95, when we finish updating the new shop.

Only about 20 of these will be available here in the US. In addition, there is a super-limited chase figure! These will be inserted randomly. Check out a picture of the chase just below. It rocks!
